Change the light before you decide anything.
Every pair below is graded by the control underneath. Restaurant tungsten flatters everything and hides value errors; a phone flash does the opposite and is what most people will actually photograph you in. A case that only works under one of the four is not finished.

What it turned on. The crowding came out with aligners, so the whitening had clean enamel to work on and no tooth was prepared. Whitening a crowded arch first hides the crowding rather than treating it.

What it turned on. Most of this was extrinsic mineral staining, which comes off with instrumentation. Selling a whitening course before a hygiene course would have been selling the same result twice.

How to read a gallery
Four questions worth asking of anybody's before-and-afters.
- Is the lighting the same in both frames? A warmer light, a different angle or a flash added on the second shot changes apparent shade more than most whitening does.
- Are the lips in the same position? A retracted "after" against a relaxed "before" exaggerates everything. Standardised records use the same framing both times.
- How long did it take, and how many visits? A result that took eleven months and nine appointments is a different proposition from one that took an afternoon.
- What was the least invasive thing that would have worked? If a gallery never shows a case solved with a hygiene visit and some bonding, it is a sales document.
